Singers, Songs & Keys
The right key changes everything. We'll find yours.
You've heard a song a thousand times and thought: I could sing that — if only it were a little lower. It is. You just haven't found it yet.
Every singer has songs they love but can't quite own. Sometimes the key is too high. Sometimes it's too low. And sometimes the song itself has a range so wide that even great singers have to pick their battles — which is a whole other thing worth knowing.
This workshop fixes all of that.
It's taught the way a working music director actually does it — by ear, at a piano, in real time. We'll also look at some digital tools that are starting to make parts of this process easier. Old school and new school, in the same room.
Bring 2–3 songs you've always wanted to sing. We'll find the key that fits your voice — using your ears, a little musical intuition, and whatever tools help. Because the technical answer gets you close. The right answer is one or two steps from there, and that's where the art lives.
You'll leave with the right key for every song you brought, and a clearer sense of how to find it for any song you'll ever want to sing.
2–3 songs you love but can't quite pull off in the recorded key.
The right key for each of them — for you. And a process you can actually use.
An in-person workshop in Western Massachusetts, taught by a working music director with 25+ years at the piano. No music theory required. Just bring your songs.
